I’m 5w & 4d today.
15th of January I had an extremely dark test. All my tests have consistently got darker since I found out I was pregnant.
I took a test today and noticed while it’s still “dark” it’s definitely lighter than the tests were a few days ago. This is the first time since I’ve been testing that the test has been lighter than the day before.
As it’s not dramatically lighter, do you think it’s nothing to worry about? ☹️ I always test around the same time everyday!
Our scan isn’t for another 10 days!

@EmmTomlin13,
had my first scan this morning! Measuring 6 weeks 2 days and everything looked good with no concerns!
Try to relax your mind and not stress too much about the line! Your body was made to do this!

Look up hook effect, that might explain what you’re seeing here. I hope that’s all it is! I stop testing once I’m positive cause I can’t handle the stress, so I don’t have anything to compare

@TinyJumpingBeans,
I did it. The diluted one is just lighter. Didn’t work for me

I’m in the same boat, 6 weeks 3 days. I’m nervous too. My initial prenatal appt isn’t for 12 days. I probably won’t have a scan for 2 weeks after that. I’m nervous.

It’s likely the hook effect. You can google that but basically you have so much hcg that the tests can’t process it.

@Amandvanesa,
I’m in the UK. I won’t see a midwife until I’m between 10-12 weeks! The wait is agonising! I’ve notified my doctors I’m pregnant, they just told me the midwife will be in touch. The scan we have in 10 days is a private one we paid for!

Technically these tests aren’t designed to be quantitative (measuring amount) they’re just supposed to be a positive/negative test. Once you get a test as dark as the first, though, it was definitely time to stop testing because diluting or not it’s going to be difficult to get a read. You can sometimes dilute too much, dilute too little, and both can lead to lighter lines. It’s really hard, but try not to think about it because these tests really aren’t reliable for this.

Once u hit 5 weeks closer to 6. I would say it’s time to stop testing.
