Áine Kennedy, owner of The Smooth Company, got quite the surprise when Molly-Mae Hague posted a YouTube video using and giving her product the Smooth Stick a five-star review.

Áine, who was previously named as one of the Sunday Independent's 30 under 30, shared her disbelief and awe at the situation on Monday night.

The entrepreneur wrote: 'IS THIS REAL LIFE RIGHT NOW??!! Did this just happen?

Smooth Stick is a Kennedy family group effort that was brought to life by Áine in 2022 when she invested all her savings in the idea, hoping that it would be a success.

After eight years in the beauty business, the founder saw a gap in the market for a product that helps smooth flyaway hair to give a sleek hairstyle. After months of trial and error, the Smooth Stick was born.

Áine who poured all her money into making the product was left with very little left for marketing - but luckily her sister and grandad were happy to help.

During Covid, she convinced her grandad Billy to download the TikTok app to keep himself entertained and now he is well versed in making content for it.

Recalling how her grandad Billy became a TikTok sensation, Áine said: 'I literally asked my grandad to record me using the Smooth Stick because there was no one else in my house. Eimear wasn't here then to record it…. what he was saying I thought was cute.'

Laughing, Aine added that that 'first video went really viral, it's still one of our most liked videos. It has nearly a million likes.'
