Jackie (Dickie) heeft een baantje als beveiligingsbeambte. De hele dag tuurt ze naar tientallen monitoren van 'City Eye Control'. Ze is goed in haar werk: als er iets gebeurt in het vuige Glasgow, heeft ze altijd een close-up van de daders. Dan gebeurt er iets dat haar dagelijkse routine doorbreekt: Jackie ziet een jonge, rossige man op een van de monitoren, en raakt in paniek. Waarom is lange tijd een raadsel; Arnold doseert de hints meesterlijk. Met sfeerrijke beelden en dito muziek maakt de jonge Schotse regisseuse een wereld van eenzaamheid en stil verdriet voelbaar. De film kreeg de Juryprijs in Cannes.
